Updated: Jul 25, 2019

A prep pose for Tripod Headstand/Salamba Sirsasana II. .

Yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar has voiced how he believes inversions purge the body of impurities, which in turn facilitates strength, calmness, and clarity of mind.

Though headstand, the King Of Asanas (Postures), is not for raw beginners, it’s still good for you to know the great benefits of having your heart below your head. There are also other easy inversion poses for beginners which will be listed at the end.

The benefits of Yoga Inversions are:

1. Shift your perspective which may change your life; 2. Calm and focus your mind; 3. Help get over your fear; 4. Gain more confidence; 5. Strengthen arms, shoulders and deep core muscles; 6. Improve blood circulation; 7. Stimulate lymphatic system; 8. Increase digestive fires and body heat; .

So those benefits are applied to any poses that your head is lower than your heart. Don’t just think inversion is being completely upside down like headstand. So I’ll list some inversion poses for beginners:

1. Child’s pose/Balasana; 2. Downward facing dog/Adho Mukha Svanasana; 3. Standing forward fold/Uttanasana; 4. Plow/Halasana 5. Shoulder stand/ Salamba Sarvangasana 6. Puppy pose/Uttana Shishosana

So let’s start to get inverted today and face our fears! Please also practice mindfully and safely!!

Namaste! 🙏🏻
