Foundations of Asanas---Vriksasana/Tree Pose

💟How to do:

1. Start from Tadasana/Mountain Pose;

2. Shift weight onto your left foot, and bend your right knee. Grab your right ankle with your right hand;

3. Draw your right foot up and place your sole against the inner left thigh with toes pointing downward; Externally rotate your right hip and bring your right knee to the side;

4. Try to press the right heel into the inner groin.

5. When you find your balance, reach your hands up toward the sky; you may birng palms together or keep them apart facing each other;

6. lengthen your tailbone toward the floor and reach the crown of your head toward the sky, keeping a long spine;

7. Hold here for 5-6 deep breaths. To come out, exhale, release your arms and right foot to Tadasana.

(Repeat on the other side)

💟Modifications:

1. Lower your right foot, placing the sole on the calf or keep toes on the ground while right heel leaning on the left ankle. Do not place your right foot against the knee. Hands can be at the heart center as Anjali mudra.

2. Reclined tree pose. Lay down on your back, placing the foot and arms at the same position as standing pose. It can be a prep for tree pose.

3. Use a chair. If you are still building up your balance, you may stand by a chair or wall for support;
